“Takata recall - this is my only car and I have two kids to transport as well as others and I cannot guarantee that no one sits in the front passenger side as requested. I am also concerned with my own safety as the driver, plus my son is starting to drive in 1 month as he gets his learners permit. I am in the priority 1 group but have heard nothing about getting this corrected.”
NHTSA complaint #10809455, filed 2015-12, 180,000 miles“The air bag warning light remains on while the car is on. I was told the air bag would not function properly while the warning light is on. The Toyota dealer said the air bag wiring is shorting in the clock mechanism and clock parts need to be replaced for the air bag to work. Why do I need to fix the clock for this air bag to work?”
NHTSA complaint #10585483, filed 2014-04, 61,993 miles“The airbag warning light started come on my 2005 Toyota Matrix about 2 years ago, and the warning light usually went off if I re-started the engine. I brought the car to the Toyota dealer to check the airbag system on 2007, but they could not find any problems. My car already had over 36,000 miles on that time, thus the warranty was expired. The warning light still came on and off occasionally thereafter. …”
NHTSA complaint #10282480, filed 2009-08, 47,200 miles“The reason I am filing this complaint is I don't feel Toyota's airbag recall is adequate. I purchased a four person sedan to carry four people. Toyota is telling me it isn't safe for a person to ride in the front passenger seat, because of this recall. I feel I need to not only have my vehicle repaired but I need Toyota to purchase my car back at market value or give me a loaner that will carry four passengers until my vehicle is fixed. It is unacceptable for them to ask me to not use my vehicle for what I purchased it for. …”
NHTSA complaint #10749377, filed 2015-08, 73,000 miles“Toyota Matrix rx 2005. Started car, driver air bag light failed to extinguish. Shut off ignition. Restarted engine, light went out. Since 6/3/2013 the driver air bag light has been intermittent, staying on about half the time I start the car. Often it takes 3 to 4 restarts to finally get the light to stay off. Occasionally the driver air bag light will come on while driving. I pull over when I can and go through the restart procedure. Otherwise while light is on the driver air bag is disabled. That could certainly be a deadly proposition. …”
