“I put this car into service january 1, 2014. I drove 150,000 miles changing my oil religiously as recommended. I had never burned a drop of oil prior to this. Then all of a sudden I started burning a quart every 2000 miles. After looking at Toyota forums this seems to be a common problem.”

NHTSA complaint #11097262, filed 2018-05, 155,250 miles

“I had the proper recall fixes done on my 2013 Toyota Prius 3 months ago for the stalling issues. Last night while accelerating to get on the freeway my Prius shut down and entered limp home mode. The 'check hybrid system. Stop vehicle in a safe place' light came on. Eventually the car wouldn't turn on at all. I didn't feel safe one bit. I'm a female, alone at night, in a bad part of town, it was 25 outside, on the side of a freeway! I don't believe the recall fixed the problem.”

NHTSA complaint #11315397, filed 2020-03, 49,000 miles

“While driving on rte. 24 south in massachusetts (around brockton/bridgewater/ taunton, ma) the caution light began flashing (triangle with exclamation). I pulled over at the nearest rest stop to see if there was any observable problem, but I could not detect anything specific. I got back on the highway; and the light continued beeping intermittently and then about a mile later I felt a shift in the transmission and suddenly I was in neutral, quickly decelerating from 65 MPH. …”

NHTSA complaint #11286553, filed 2019-12, 90,000 miles

“I received the recall notice and to prevent an accident, I have not been driving my car. My nearest dealship, whom I have utilized often, now are discriminating by stating false personal statements against me. This may be gender, age or racist based. So I need support to have my car towed & have hamer Toyota fairly & professionally complete the safety recall repairs. I have been at the dealship and on the phone with all levels of employees who have belittled, made false statements and/ or just plain inhumane with no remedy for my 2013 Toyota Prius.”

NHTSA complaint #11231657, filed 2019-07, 40,000 miles

“The dates I am not sure of it wouldn't let me continue with out putting in a date and the same for mileage and speed, I had my car updated by Toyota they said it was a voluntary recall , exactly after the update I now get10-15 miles less a gallon and my vehicle hesitates on acceleration 1-3 seconds ,I have brought the car back 2 times and was told that they haven't heard of any complaints about problems after the update I left my car with them both times on a friday and picked up on a monday they said they recalibrated the computer the first time and it had better mileage until I filled up…”
