“I was on the freeway and entering a freeway ramp to another freeway in a turn and I let my foot off the gas and the throttle stuck and actually my car began to speed up on its own! My foot was not the gas at the time I let it for a sec and than it was like I slammed on the gas going into the turn on the ramp it scared the hell out of me its the first something like that happen to me. …”

NHTSA complaint #11269832, filed 2019-10, 85,069 miles

“Car seems to lag when I step on gas pedal from a stop position (when I'm stopped at a red light). It has happened 3 times now and only when I'm trying to turn left. Vehicle doesn't jump, but there is a lag and the car doesn't go, even when I'm pressing down on the gas pedal. Does anyone else have this problem? This is my first brand new vehicle and I'm pretty disappointed.”

NHTSA complaint #10305221, filed 2010-02, 12,200 miles

“I was on a test drive to buy the vehicle.. It was very cold out, teens, but no ice on road. Riding along 20-25mph slowing down for red light--applied break -- seemed car was still accelerating had to stand on breaks to stop a couple of feet from car in front. Returned to dealership and told them , they looked up VIN said there as no recall. I saw on this site there is a very similar issue that there was a recall for. Should Toyota take a closer look at this vehicle?”

NHTSA complaint #10681052, filed 2015-02, 76,000 miles

“After completing a 5 block downhill drive in second gear with little use of either the accelerator or the brake, I then braked as I turned into my garage in order to park my vehicle. As I entered my garage and while still braking and at slowing speed the vehicle's engine suddenly accelerated and the vehicle lurched forward violently. I immediately applied heavy brake pressure and up shifted in an attempt to take the vehicle out of gear. My braking may have slowed, but did not stop, the vehicle's forward acceleration. …”

NHTSA complaint #10562066, filed 2014-01, 48,320 miles

“When I drive my Toyota 2010 RAV4 over a significant bump or pothole, the car lunges forward/accelerates. It doesn't last long , but I certainly have not had this happen with my previous cars (vw passat wagon, ford grand cherokee,etc.).”
