“My front windshield has a crack from one end to the other. This appears to be a defect in the glass since there was no impact. It was first noticed when the windshield was covered with ice and the defogger was working to melt it. The vehicle was not moving as it was parked in my driveway.”
NHTSA complaint #11208207, filed 2019-05, 65,000 miles“This is the second time in six months I have had to replace the rear windshield on my RAV4. Both times it had been parked in a parking spot outside when the windows shattered. Both times there didn't seem to be a visible reason to have caused the shattering of the window .”
NHTSA complaint #11120542, filed 2018-08, 78,850 miles“When driving down the road at speeds over 35mph and a rear window is rolled down, with other windows up, there is a buffeting and feeling of pressure to your ears inside the vehicle.this can be very uncomfortable to the occupants inside the vehicle.I contacted Toyota and was told via email that this is normal in modern vehicles.”
NHTSA complaint #10649871, filed 2014-10, 5,000 miles“Sun roof exploded into many pieces flew off and damaged paint job of car directly behind pieces were found in my car car traveling at 55 mpg just passed burlington vermont on july 3, 2014 at around 11:30 am no one injured if someone sitting behind driver seat not sure what would have happened stopped at Toyota dealer in scranton vt he removed remaining broken class part would take 5 days able to continue to drive on.”
NHTSA complaint #10609005, filed 2014-07, 32,000 miles“The navigation screen is totally unuseable in daylight. Screen is flat and exposed to sun. Driver has to lean way over and hold right hand over the screen to get any visibility at all. Even then it's too difficult to see, not to mention the danger of leaning over, using the right hand to screen, and staring at the screen rather than the road. Terrible terrible design. Toyota will not address the problem. $1500 mistake for anyone who purchased this add-on.”
