“While driving on city streets and making a turn at approximately 20-25 MPH, the vehicle's electric power steering cut out without any warning. The steering became extremely heavy with no assist. The red steering wheel icon lite up. This is the second time that this incident has occurred and luckily I did not have my family in the vehicle.”

NHTSA complaint #11322348, filed 2020-04, 14,733 miles

“I was exiting a highway on a curve (est. 40mph) when my power steering failed instantly jerking the steering wheel to the right creating a safety hazard. At the same time all of my dashboard lights flashed on and off. I have a Toyota RAV4 2015. There have been a recall for this description but not on my VIN.”

NHTSA complaint #11330901, filed 2020-06, 91,000 miles

“The steering mechanism on this vehicle has frozen twice. The dealer could not replicate so sent on our way despite the fact that there are recalls on this model Toyota. The steering wheel locked on I-20 and on 5th street bridge. Turning vehicle off and restarting ignition temporarily resolves issue. Both times occurred on relatively straight roads. I believe there is a defect in electronic steering system”

NHTSA complaint #10984483, filed 2017-05, 14,000 miles

“I went to start my car and the electric power steering warning light was on and the car would not start. Towed to shop and they can find nothing wrong and it starts right up. Concerned the power steering will go out while I am driving.”

NHTSA complaint #11361664, filed 2020-09, 123,521 miles

“The car wants to pull to the right when accelerating or,just releasing the brake to coast.Toyota dealer and Toyota said it is normal.I never had a front wheel drive car do this.I believe this is a safety issue, because it does not happel all the time.the front end is aligned correctly.”
