“My 2007 Scion Tc. Has a big issue with oil comsuption. I always have to change my oil every 2,000 miles if I dont drive it long distance. When I drive it for about 45 mins each way everyday it burns all the oil when it hits 1,700 miles. Today 03/03/2021 I check my oil and it was actually empty I mean not even a drop im glad I cought it today I dont want to know if I had taken much longer im sure my engine could breakdown easily. I dont know what to do I try all the full synthetic oils and it still the same.”
NHTSA complaint #11398976, filed 2021-03, 157,000 miles“Literally just bought the vehicle. Only to look into the history of these cars and see that they have a factory defect that was never professionally taken care of. Now anyone like me coming into ownership of these vehicles are punished for something we had no knowledge of nor caused.I was driving my car today down a residential road when all of a suddthe car jerks and dies. It would restart after that. Now mind you I take great care of my vehicles and keep all fluids to their factory suggested levels. I found out later that it spun a bearing thanks to this factory oil defect. …”
NHTSA complaint #11396135, filed 2021-02, 191,062 miles“Oil consumption is abnormally high. Recorded roughly a quart or more consumed per 1,000 miles. No leaks evident. Car use is normal daily use, and car engine and mechanical components have not been tampered with in any way whatsoever. Oil reservoir is nearing empty after roughly 2600 miles after fresh oil change.”
NHTSA complaint #11321316, filed 2020-04, 176,400 miles“I am also one of them that just learned why my 2007 Scion TC is eating the oil. I love this car and wish I would have received the notice about the engine problems back when Toyota may have done something about it. I know that three difference dealerships have my contact info. I will continue to put in a quart of oil each week until that stops helping.”
NHTSA complaint #11433654, filed 2021-09“Ive been going thru a lot of oil lately and i dont understand why, i have a friend that owns the same car and told me he was going thru the same thing and took the car to toyota and turns out they had a recall about oil consumption so they ended up rebuilding his engine or replacing it. So im wondering if im going thru the same thing. I have to put oil in the car every 2 weeks”
