Example complaints

Engine: “My 2007 Scion Tc. Has a big issue with oil comsuption. I always have to change my oil every 2,000 miles if I dont drive it long distance. When I drive it for about 45 mins each way everyday it burns all the oil when it hits 1,700 miles. Today 03/03/2021 I check my oil and it was actually empty I mean not even a drop im glad I cought it today I dont want to know if I had taken much longer im sure my engine could breakdown easily. I dont know what to do I try all the full synthetic oils and it still the same.”

NHTSA complaint #11398976, filed 2021-03, 157,000 miles

Electrical system: “Literally just bought the vehicle. Only to look into the history of these cars and see that they have a factory defect that was never professionally taken care of. Now anyone like me coming into ownership of these vehicles are punished for something we had no knowledge of nor caused.I was driving my car today down a residential road when all of a suddthe car jerks and dies. It would restart after that. Now mind you I take great care of my vehicles and keep all fluids to their factory suggested levels. I found out later that it spun a bearing thanks to this factory oil defect. …”

NHTSA complaint #11396135, filed 2021-02, 191,062 miles

Body and structure: “Plate over back hatch just below third brake light detaches & hangs by a cable. It swings while driving & scratches the bottom of the hatch & back fender. If cable breaks while driving it will become airborne. The hatch plate hooks snapped off while the vehicle was stationary & I was opening the hatch. Now that it's broke off the car it swings while driving hanging by a cable. I have to keep it taped.”
