Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“Takata recall vw has no part--they have no timeline for the part--the are refusing a loaner until they have the part (which makes no sense). They refuse to comment on whether the car should be driven. I should not have to choose between my family's safety and spending more money--they need to provide a loaner!”

NHTSA complaint #11180280, filed 2019-02, 45,000 miles

“The clock spring has failed on my CC causing all airbags to be disabled. Volkswagen refuses to fix this as a safety issue. I'm filing this in the event that something happens I will have full recourse against them for negligence over profit.”

NHTSA complaint #11389150, filed 2021-01, 55,000 miles

“It looks like a problem with the computer system all my light and sensors came on including airbags etc.. It happens when I turn my car on to go to work.”

NHTSA complaint #11279682, filed 2019-11, 70,000 miles

“What happens is exactly what is described in other models and years of the same model. Failure of the steering power and airbag failure due to failure of clockspring. This is a new car and it would be quite a coincidence to have this same issue with the same manufacturer and not have it be causally related based on the same defect which caused a similar recall. The airbag sensor light wen ton, horn wouldn't work, electrical components on wheel won't work. Bringing for replacement of clockspring (same as in other recall).”

NHTSA complaint #11173730, filed 2019-02, 41,000 miles

“Clock spring broke, now NO airbag and nothing on the steering panel works including the horn and airbag. First I was told by the dealship that it was a California car so they would fix it, today I was told they would not. So we are driving a car with NO airbag. They want $700 to replace this part with a long waiting period.”
