2018: “Front collision warning sounds when leaving parking lots with small dip where the road meets the exit. 25% of the time my emergency brakes activate stopping the car when I want to exit. The car thinks the road is an obstacle because of the dip. This happen often and in different parking lots. Very dangerous since you're entering a road way and could cause an accident.”

NHTSA complaint #11210352, filed 2019-05, 8,500 miles

2019: “The problem is with the vehicle's fuse system. The Golf R came with no spare tire but an air pump, which needs to be powered by the 12v dc power of the vehicle. But when I use this original air pump, the fuse of the 12v dc power burns out. This happened for several times since I had the car in october, 2019. The dealer can only give me new fuse to replace the broken one. Many Golf R's owners met this similar problems. I think there is some issues with their fuse system design.”

NHTSA complaint #11415660, filed 2021-05, 8,000 miles

2017: “I have a 2017 Golf R equipped with dsg transmission, automatic emergency braking and adaptive cruise control. Occasionally the car would make a continuous and periodic clicking noise that can last for a few minutes when in motion and when brake is not applied. As soon as I step on the brake, the clicking stops. When brake pedal is released, the clicking comes back. The problem started in may/june 2018 when the car had approximately 14000 miles, and has been doing that every once in a while since then. …”
