“The cars check engine light came on and lost power on the freeway. I took it to get checked and a diagnostic was done . I had just gone to the dealership a week before and had the back brakes and rotors replaced for $500 dollars and the oil changed for another $100. They said everything was fine.”
NHTSA complaint #11363223, filed 2020-10, 100,000 miles“As I was traveling from ft collins back to denver on the i25 freeway going approximately 65 MPH when my car suddenly lost power. When I pressed on the gas pedal all I heard was the engine revving but no power. I was able to move my car safely to the shoulder of the freeway by sheer luck of the time of day this happened and then promptly called a towing company.”
NHTSA complaint #10609028, filed 2014-07, 93,000 miles“After months of car bogging eventually my check engine light went on. Code read for oxygen sensor. Shortly after epc light came on. Car wouldn't move. After research I found that many Jetta's hv this issue. Recall?”
NHTSA complaint #11079715, filed 2018-03, 125,000 miles“Going down the interstate at 70mph beside a semi, the car slightly (not enough to take me out of my lane) pulls to the side & ding! Ding! Ding! 'ABS' & 'esp' lights come on & the emergency 'brake' light on the dash starts flashing. No additional symptoms that I noticed on the next 15miles to work, just the dash lights. Upon arriving at work I park & shut the car off. Restart it. And everything appears as thou it was an aberration. No lights. No dinging. …”
NHTSA complaint #10629116, filed 2014-08, 93,400 miles“The ABS module faulting is a known and common problem for these vehicles. Vw has a recall for the ABS software-recall #16v913. If your module doesn't crash when the dealer performs the update, which it likely won't, then they do not replace the module. We feel this is a workaround to cover them to not have to replace them. Ours went out this month while I was driving. This was extremely dangerous as I lost steering control and the vehicle kept downshifting below 30 MPH on a highway that I should have been traveling 60 MPH on. The epc and ABS lights came on. …”
