Example complaints

One per model year, chosen for length and detail. Personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

2009: “Abs module failure occurred 10 days after replacing battery and alternator. I have nearly crashed quite a few times when braking (not hard) due to the wheels locking up and car begins to fish tail, this occurs on dry or wet pavement. Mostly take back roads when driving as I am unsure how safe my car is on the interstate and if sudden braking is needed how my car will fair.”

2008: “Steering stopped working and caught fire, there is a hole in the side of it like a laser shot out of the electromechanical steering gear box. I had parked in my driveway, and within 15 min after it was parked, smoke came billowing out from under the hood, it ended up being the electronic steering on fire.”

NHTSA complaint #11154668, filed 2018-11, 1,690 miles

2007: “My key is stuck in the ignition on the acc position. I can only start the car. It will not turn to the off position. The only way I am able to shut off the car is to pull 2 fuses under the hood. Vehicle was stationary when this problem began.”
