“Because of failure of internal latching mechanisms, the doors of the 1994 Volvo 850 (and possibly other models) after being closed can suddenly and without warning be rendered permanently closed and unable to be opened from either inside or outside the vehicle. Use of the vehicle key, door locks or door handles are ineffective at allowing an affected door to be opened, even though unaffected doors will continue to unlock, lock, close and open normally. The issue occurred on my vehicle on both rear doors, although at different times. …”

The current and failure mileages were 18,700.”
