Example complaints

One per model year, chosen for length and detail. Personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

2016: “The sunroof spontaneously exploded outward on the highway, no possibility of road debris hitting it as no other cars were nearby, and I was not close to an overpass. I believe temperature fluctuation causes it, as I was recently in below-freezing weather (15*f). On the day of the explosion I drove south starting at 40*f driving to 86*f.”

NHTSA complaint #11386035, filed 2021-01, 60,500 miles

2004: “Yes my passenger side seat belt just randomly locked up. My car has never been in any crashes I didn't stop short for it to lock up. I went to put it on and it would only pull half way out and then when it went back it it stuck. It won't come out at all at all now. I can't pass inspection without it working.”

NHTSA complaint #11400135, filed 2021-03, 165,000 miles

2012: “As I approached a red light I began to slow down and my car started to shake and then it turned off I was unable to turn on my hazards to warn other drivers or pull over to the side, after a couple seconds the lights came back on and I put the car in p and started it again. It happened again later on the same day.”
