“There is a class action lawsuit against Volvo for both these problems and I was affected by both this month. 1. Windshield for Volvo XC60 is known for a failure of bonding along the top edge. When I brought it in the service guys were able to just push the windshield upwards and out with their bare hands to show me that there is a huge gap along the top edge. This happened to my car in the past 1 month and ended in a $420 repair that involved popping the whole thing off and resealing it. …”

NHTSA complaint #11232933, filed 2019-07, 116,000 miles

“After starting up from a stop, city safety activated with an emergency brake activation, we were almost rear ended by the car behind us. There was no reason for the activation of the brakes, vehicle in front was accelerating away from us, plenty of space between us, and space was increasing. This occurred on 3 more occasions before I could get to the dealer. My wife has not driven the car since, as she no longer feels safe, worried about self, and the baby due to hard stop or if rear ended.”

NHTSA complaint #10447398, filed 2012-02, 10,590 miles

“Pulling into driveway, pressed on brake pedal. Foot was on edge of brake pedal, and rubber cover popped off. After inspecting, it appears that the lips on the back end of the rubber pedal cover that hold it to the metal pedal are not long enough to grasp the pedal securely. It should wrap around the pedal like a rubber band, but there is so little extra rubber on the back that it appeared that the rubber cover could literally pop off, and that's just what it did. Go inspect yours. This was on a 2010 XC60 t6 awd with standard rubber pedals. …”

NHTSA complaint #10455317, filed 2012-04, 21,000 miles

“While slowing down and just about to make a turn into a private residence off of a highway, multiple indicator lights illuminated and audio warning dinging occurred for approximately 3 seconds. As I had already been slowly applying the brakes and starting to slightly turn the wheel towards the driveway when those warnings briefly came up, the moment the lights and sounds stopped, vehicle then maintained speed (while still on the brakes) and locked steering position it was at simultaneously. Having no control at that point, it continued until crashing into a wooden fence. …”
