“Rear window in 2010 Volvo XC60 exploded after small impact into thousands of very sharp shards (not the pebbles as is supposed to happen). Shards were sent throughout the cabin including to the passenger seats, windscreen, speedo, etc. This does not seem the appropriate way for tempered glass to behave.”

NHTSA complaint #10281828, filed 2009-08, 3,910 miles

“1. Can barely see out of inside rearview mirror in the daytime. Particularly hazardous if cars following do not have their headlights on. Volvo says they cannot lighten/correct the auto dimming mirror. 2. Blis system is not reliable for cars in blind spot and should be ignored. However, it cannot be turned off. Response from Volvo: hi , thank you for contacting Volvo cars of north america. The auto-dim rearview mirror is unable to be lightened for daytime use. There is no permanent shut-off for the blis function in your vehicle. …”

“It has been very cold here in germany. Our temperatures have dropped below zero. I went outside on the 20th to clean off the snow from my car. I walked upon my drivers side window shattered into a million pieces. My car was towed to the dealer only to find it's not under warranty. I love my Volvo, I have only had it for two months and now we have to come out of the pocket for something that happened weather related.”

NHTSA complaint #10296548, filed 2009-12

“The contact owns a 2010 Volvo XC60. The contact stated that the rear windshield wiper only exhibited two speeds settings and would not completely clear the window when driving. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer is not aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 102,000. Sj”

NHTSA complaint #10926980, filed 2016-11, 102,000 miles

“Vehicle windshield isn't sealed properly. Water pours into car, just under the dash at an alarming rate whenever it rains. When coming to a stop or accelerating, the water that has collected in the body can be heard sloshing back and forth. When the outside temperature drops, the inside windows need to be scraped. This water leak has also caused a mold and mildew smell.”
