1999: “Lost 3 akuret lct 225/75/16 tires in one round trip of approx 156 miles. Trip to destination was 8/12/15, return trip was 8/14/15. The tires were on a 1999 Winnebago Minnie Winnie dl motor home we purchased used. The previous owner stated the tires were put on about 2 years ago. The tires appeared to be barely used with more than 95% or more tread. The unit had sat unused for nearly 2 years. We checked tire pressures immediately upon purchase and took the rig directly to a local service station to bring the pressures up to 70 PSI front and 80 PSI rear. …”
NHTSA complaint #10748893, filed 2015-08, 29,200 miles1997: “Firestone steeltex radial lt225/75r16. Inside right rear dual on our 31 ' 97 Winnebago vibrated for about 3 seconds at highway speed and then a loud noise (tread came off and I could see traffic behind me avoiding the tread). The tire still had air in it, but all tread had come off. My wife and I are extremely concerned this experience could happen again with much worst consequences. The tread ripped a volley ball size hole in the wheel well just under the hot water heater.”
NHTSA complaint #10023970, filed 2003-06, 42,000 miles2000: “My wife and I own a 2000 Minnie Winnie motor home which has 21,000 miles on it and left for our sons hockey tournament in virginia beach. We left at approximately 11:00am aug 1, 2007 and experienced a blowout with the passenger side rear outer tire. When they pulled the tire off, they noticed that the tread was separated where the blowout was. The inner tire tread appeared as thought the tread was beginning to separate so they replaced it also and inspected the remaining four with no problems. On august 5, 2007 we were returning home when I felt a severe vibration in the entire motorhome. …”
