“I recently took a motorcycle trip to colorado, while there I had several incidents where on hot days my motorcycle would overflow gas onto hot engine and pipes. This is a known problem with this bike and I feel that, due to the amount of fuel spilling onto hot engine and pipes, it's only a matter of time before a fire and/or explosion occurs.”

NHTSA complaint #10277316, filed 2009-07, 7,000 miles

“2007 roadstar silverado motorcycle. Ever since purchased the motorcycle pukes gasoline after riding or stopping to gas up. It continues to puke gas in my garage after riding it especially during the summer time. I noticed gas being ejected and boiling within the v of the twin cylinders from the carbureator. Also when I stop for gas the motorcycle will puke gas and not allow me to restart the motorcycle.”

NHTSA complaint #10277252, filed 2009-07, 200 miles

“Fuel filter assembly 5px-24560-00 had an incorrect tolerance fit and began leaking fuel on to the engine. Luckily the unit stayed together while the motorcycle was traveling. Upon replacing part it simply fell apart and caused all fuel in the tank to drain. Failure during travel would likely cause a fire and injury or death to the rider.”

NHTSA complaint #10483999, filed 2012-11, 6,500 miles

“1. Riding motorcycle for about 50 minutes, outside air temperature is above 80 degrees. Parked motorcycle and returned to it 15 minutes later. 2. Unable to restart engine, strong smell of gasoline, small amount of gasoline coming from bottom of vent tube. Generally occurs when engine is very hot. 3. Let engine cool 10-20 minutes, waited for gas smell to dissipate, able to restart. No parts replaced.”

NHTSA complaint #10331240, filed 2010-05, 4,000 miles
