Fuel system: “I recently took a motorcycle trip to colorado, while there I had several incidents where on hot days my motorcycle would overflow gas onto hot engine and pipes. This is a known problem with this bike and I feel that, due to the amount of fuel spilling onto hot engine and pipes, it's only a matter of time before a fire and/or explosion occurs.”

While driving in second gear at 5,500 rpms the throttle engaged and the motorcycle did not accelerate as it should. When it did accelerate it did it at a slow rate of speed before it actually gradually gained speed. The failure occurred only when merging on o the highway or into traffic. …”
NHTSA complaint #10183658, filed 2007-02, 1 milesSuspension: “Failure of manufacturer Yamaha motorcycle(star brand) to balance the tires/rims of their motorcycles prior to sale. This leads to handling issues and premature tire wear and replacement. I had a low speed wobble from the day of delivery 1 april '07 until I had the rear tire replaced and balanced 5 august '08. I then began to look at star mc'c and cannot find any on the show room floors that have any weights or signs that any attempt to balance the rims/tire of this brand have been made. Many folks on the roadstar riders forum are having issues with early tire wear and front end wobble. …”
