“While riding home from work, I shifted into 3rd gear at about 30 miles per hour and heard a grinding sound. When I shifted into fourth, it went away. Upon downshifting, when I downshifted into third when coming to a stop at a red light, I heard the noise again. When I started again from the red light, it made the noise again, only in third gear. I looked online and saw many others have had this same problem. This motorcycle has been ridden very easy, and only has 16,190 miles in 8 years. This should not be happening.”
NHTSA complaint #10760118, filed 2015-08, 16,190 miles“When the bike slows down, or when I engage the clutch to downshift the bike stalls. This seems to happen more frequently when the temperature outside is cold or cooler, but does happen in the summer time as well.”
NHTSA complaint #10567891, filed 2014-03, 10,806 miles“Third gear started grinding. Riding along at normal speed and normal RPM and any time I decelerate or downshift in or into third gear it makes a grinding noise.”
