2006: “I was riding home from college and I down shifted from 4th gear to third and heard a noise and the bike stalled. I was able to get it into neutral and it started back up again however if I shift into third it makes a horrible tapping noise. So, I have been riding the bike without using 3rd gear. I am a disabled veteran who lives on very little vet benefits which do not allow for me to pay for a top end rebuild which is required to change the gear. …”
NHTSA complaint #11325198, filed 2020-05, 45,000 miles2007: “Several times upon coming to a stop or coasting the engine dies. This even happened after a service! The problem seems to be getting worse. Very dangerous as I travel houston streets and highways daily. I have communicated with other stratoliner owners and this appears to be a growing problem. Is there a known defect?”
