“Steering wheel clicks when I turn and when I start my car up after letting it sit for a couple of hours, it makes a rattle sound in the engine. The rattle sound is the sound a engine make when the oil is low or not getting to the pistons.”
NHTSA complaint #11083735, filed 2018-04, 100,000 miles“Vehicle is experiencing a high oil consumption issue. Every 1000 miles it's required one quart of oil to be added to the oil filler. Acura has a warranty extension for this know issue to 8 years or 125,000 miles from the original date of service, whichever comes first. My vehicle was noticed to have this problem at 83,000 miles and just under 9 years of service. Acura customer relations was contacted but refused to service my vehicle due to lack of service at their dealership even though I have records of making my synthetic oil changes and other repairs at an independent mechanic shop.”

It started to show signs of this over the last 5,000 - 10,000 miles or so and has become increasingly worse. I hear a grinding noise whenever I start my vehicle first thing in the morning. My local Acura dealer has done a diagnostic and has confirmed the actuator failure. Honda who also owns Acura, has been aware of this issue since approximately 2008. It is affecting a very large portion of vehicles with a honda vtec engine. They have done nothing to fix this issue and it is affecting brand new vehicles as well. …”
