Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“I was driving on the highway and felt an extremely hot drop fall on top of my foot while wearing sandals. The pain was so bad I had to stop on the emergency lane to see what it was. There was a brown oily substance leaking from where the gas pedal is right on my foot. I had a pink mark after I cleaned off and kept driving. Got home about 15 minutes later and never felt it again. 2 days later the same thing happened again, also driving on the highway and this time I almost crashed because of the burning sensation on my foot. Once again it was the same oily substance. …”

NHTSA complaint #10568415, filed 2014-02, 72,300 miles

“They have a design defect which allows water to get into the cabin via the moon roof. They also have an electrical motherboard under the drivers feet (comfort control module) that shorts out when it gets wet (which is easy when the rain comes in from the faulty moon roof). Now I cannot un/lock my doors, operate my windows open/closed, etc. And I believe it has negatively effected my ability for brake lights to function properly. This is a widespread issue, not just on mine. …”

NHTSA complaint #11532413, filed 2023-07

“So I opened up the sunroof, took a long wire and started poking. I also removed the wheel arch and cleaned out the outlet. I poured a bucket of water thru and it came out of the bottom nicely. All well I thought. Today it rained for the first time since then, and I was very unpleasantly surprised to feel waterdrops dripping from the hood opening grip next to my feet. Since my car is always outside and not covered against the rain, I had to deal with it right away. I stripped the a pillar cover and saw it had serious water marks. …”

NHTSA complaint #10917158, filed 2016-10

“The moonroof was very poorly designed/built. It clogs very easily and forces rain into the battery area. Other than that, it goes into the footwells and the comfort control module is beneath the drivers footwell. Soaking in water destroyed it. Now the windows don't go up or down. The moonroof refuses to open or shut. The car will not lock or unlock with the key. The car has sat now for too long and will no longer even turn on. The insurance company looked it all over and denied my claim. The vehicle has pretty much been totalled. …”

NHTSA complaint #11547890, filed 2023-10

“2007 Audi a-4 consumer states that the a-4 puts him to sleep at the wheel force yawns and heavy eyelids and drowsiness. The consumer wanted to know if there was a possible exhaust, gas or engine leak.”
