Example complaints

Electrical system: “Vehicle was traveling at 50 MPH when all of all sudden it would not accelerate when the driver pressed on the accelerator pedal. Manufacturer was contacted for a similar event months earlier by consumer and tested, but the cause was undetermined. At 2700 RPM the engine died. When releasing the gas pedal engine may or may not start moving. The check engine light keeps illuminating and there is intermittent back fire. Dealer replaced a number of parts related to the engine. Lighter not working. Connection to the lighter plug was repaired. The horn is very low. Debris cleared from the horn. …”

Vehicle speed control: “Audi has acknowledged the fact in a report to USA today that the allroad model has what is called delayed throttle response a potentially life threatening malfunction of the tiptronic transmission but Audi of america denies the problem exsists to the owners of these vehicles when we contact them or their dealer network. This problem is as dangerous as Audi's unintended acceleration issue years back. Several hundred Audi owners have signed a petition regarding this vital safety concern. Please help us. Thank you. Dt”

NHTSA complaint #768611, filed 2002-10

Brakes: “I have intermittent problems where the ABS and brake lights go on with an accompanying three beeps from the console of my 2000 Audi a6 Quattro sedan. This is happening most of the time now. The computer diagnostic indicates that there is no communications with the ABS system. My mechanic tells me that he can fix this for about 25% of the value of my car. This is nuts. I go online and find that there are dozens of people with the same problem that have filed questions with various Audi-related web pages, all with the same or nearly the same problem. …”
