Example complaints

Brakes: “When applying brakes, vehicle vibrates. Consumer states that new brake pads and rotors installed at Audi dealer 5 times in the past 50000 miles, the new rotors continue to warp and thus provide very poor braking after only about 5000 miles.”

NHTSA complaint #8002368, filed 2002-01

Electrical system: “Have replaced the ignition switch 3 times since january 1996. The switch has a position that controls the turn signals and windshield wipers. One of the failure modes I have experienced allows the car to start and run put disconnects the turn signals and wipers. I find this out in traffic when I need those elements. Audi will not acknowledge this problem, but I notice the latest switch seems to have been strengthened where it was breaking previously. I find it hard to believe that I'm the only Audi owner who has experienced failures with this switch.”

NHTSA complaint #728911, filed 2000-08

Equipment: “1991 Audi Quattro feels the bose factory stereo system is not safe due to defect (which caused fire and damage in other vehicles). The consumer has disconnected the rear speakers as a precaution. Yh”

NHTSA complaint #551143, filed 2000-02
