2013: “Transmission is noisy. The gears are worn prematurely. I have 40k miles on me 2013 k1600gt. I saw a recall for 2017+ transmissions but I believe it should be extended to prior years. Obviously it was in motion from 10mph or faster. It seems to be worse from 3rd gear and higher.”
NHTSA complaint #11406355, filed 2021-04, 20 miles2018: “When starting engine from a stationary position, while in neutral, the throttle gets stuck revving at approximately 2000 RPM. Can’t shift out of neutral or decelerate/acelerate throttle. This has happened on multiple occasions.after several attempts of turning on/off the main switch, and rockining the bike back and forth the issue sometime goes away ...bike has 3100 miles on it”
NHTSA complaint #11217292, filed 2019-06, 3,100 miles2012: “URGENT Please. I want to Repair ASAP. I write as someone who is Knowledgeable about these issues. I have repaired my own Motorcycles and Cars for about 30 years now. I also have owned several BMW Motorcycles. This issue with this 2012 BMW K1600 GT Motorcycle is that the Front and Rear Shocks wear out very often. BMW installed these electronic shocks on these bikes and they are very cheaply made. You will find many many forums online where thousands of people have to replace these shocks at 8000, 10,000 or so miles. …”
