Example complaints

One per model year, chosen for length and detail. Personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

2012: “When accelerating from a stop the engine started running poorly, hardly any power. I moved over 3 lanes in heavy traffic to the right shoulder & turned the engine off. Had it towed to dealership where I was informed the plastic throttle body cams had broken. This bike has only 20,000 miles on it! It put me in extreme danger.”

NHTSA complaint #11362414, filed 2020-10, 20,000 miles

2014: “I bought this new and I have always smelled gas especilly after a fill up. I recently had to apply the brakes very hard while travelling down the highway and fuel came out through the gas cap even though the gas cap was properly secured.”

NHTSA complaint #11397504, filed 2021-02, 9,000 miles

2009: “2014 recall on the fuel pump flange was issued and it was completed at a Bmw dealer in june of 2014. Now may 6, 2018 the fuel pump flange has failed spraying fuel over the engine. I contacted the Bmw customer service department they informed me that due to the part being over 2 years old and they no longer responsable for the replacement of the part. This is the same issue for the 2014 recall and now it has happened again.”
