“The front brakes have an issue that Bmw knows about, as the dealership informed me it was a common issue with 2016-2020 x1s and x2s. The brake pads on the front wheels have an issue where one brake pad will wear extremely quickly within 5,000-20,000 miles. While the other brake pad will wear as it should. As the brake pad that wears down quickly is the inner brake pad. To actually see the brake pad one must remove the car wheel to access any visibility of the brake pad itself. …”
NHTSA complaint #11372658, filed 2020-11, 47,000 miles“Every time I start or stop my vehicle I get a notification that shows Transmission: Secure vehicle with parking brake when stopped. Consult service center. And my console has a hazard warning that shows: Secure vehicle against rolling. This happens every time, even if the car is parked on a completely flat surface in no danger whatsoever of rolling. I've read SEVERAL X1 owners get this message and all state this needs to be a RECALL. …”
NHTSA complaint #11602851, filed 2024-07“My BMW 2016 is displaying a message “Secure Vehicle against rolling”. It just started one day last week. We brought it to our mechanic who said it was a known issue with this make and model car and there are other complaints on other forums and here as well. This is an extreme safety issue - the vehicle could roll and injure or kill someone. This car has less that 40000 miles on it and should be recalled by the manufacturer.”
NHTSA complaint #11465231, filed 2022-05“My BMW 2016 is displaying a message “Secure Vehicle against rolling”. This message is coming up only today (03/11/2022). I tried to search in the web forums and could see many many users reported same issue. I am worried about the safety of myself and family driving the vehicle with this message. I am planning to take it to the dealer for consultation. I feel this is a manufacturing issue and needs safety recall and warranty replacement by the manufacturer.”
