“I reviewed the safety recalls for my specific vehicle however, I don’t see anything about the brake recall. On my vehicle service history report, I don’t see any repairs made in relation to the recall. The recall notice specifically identifies 2013/14 BMW X1 SAV. I’m concerned because I have had brake problems for a year now that my service center can’t seem to figure out the cause of. I’m worried my vehicle may have been missed somehow, and the symptoms I’m experiencing are very dangerous, even if not recall related. …”

“Driving down I-89 in Vermont, just South of Montpelier, we were driving at highway speeds toward a construction zone, suddenly, all of the power to the car cut out. There was no warning, no lights, no “bing bong” of the car to let us know there was an issue, it just stopped. We had less than 10 seconds to make a decision. When the car lost power, We had no power brakes or steering. We were in the section with concrete barriers on both sides and no shoulder. This is the most dangerous situation I can think of. …”

The driver was able to pull over and stop the vehicle but the braking distance was extended when depressing the brake pedal. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that a hose leading to the brake booster had failed and needed to be replaced. The hose was replaced and the failure was remedied. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. …”
