“I purchased a used 2007 Cadillac CTS in november 2009. From that time, it always hesitates with the first forward acceleration of the morning, and then has a forceful acceleration as it overcomes the hesitation/almost stalling, and then drives normally. As this was a new car for me, I thought that maybe the car needed to warm up due to the cold weather over winter. Once the temperatures increased, the car continued to experience the problem - daily. The car is at the dealer again - 5th visit since march 2010. …”

NHTSA complaint #10331665, filed 2010-05, 25,671 miles

“Engine light on dashboard warned that there was a problem. After investigation it was clear that the timing chain had to be replaced. This was carried out without any courtesy from import-organization or dealer. After 28,000 miles? Unbelievable. It cost me a lot of money.”

NHTSA complaint #10436851, filed 2011-11, 28,000 miles

“The contact owns a 2007 Cadillac CTS. The contact stated that the vehicle would start, but failed to shift into the accurate gear and the brake warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the radiator and hoses needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.”

NHTSA complaint #10794356, filed 2015-11, 65,000 miles

“The contact owns a 2007 Cadillac CTS. While driving 40 MPH, the vehicle shut off without warning. The failure occurred on five separate occasions. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. As of september 20, 2007, the dealer had not repaired the vehicle. The powertrain was unknown. The failure mileage was 2,000 and current mileage was 11,998.”

NHTSA complaint #10203516, filed 2007-09, 2,000 miles

“The contact owns a 2007 Cadillac CTS. The contact stated that the engine exploded. The contact was driving 78 MPH when the cruise control inadvertently disengaged. A loud booming noise emitted from the engine while a flash of fire and smoke emitted from the rear exhaust. Smoke then began to rise from the engine. The contact also stated that a rattling chain sound also began to come from the engine. There were no warnings prior to the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the dealer was unable to inspect the vehicle. The dealer informed the contact that this was a known failure. …”
