“When approaching a red light at 5-10mph, I engaged the brakes, but the brakes did not work and the automatic breaking didn't work either, leading me to rear end the car in front of me. There were no prior warnings lights or notices, and the breaks were working properly before and after the accident. The car was towed to the dealership for inspection, but they could not find anything wrong and have contacted GM for further inspection.”

NHTSA complaint #11604789, filed 2024-07

“I have had two incidents with the automatic braking system occur in a short period of time. The Lyriq is not a car that I drive very often so when the incidents occurred in the last 2 of the 3 times of driving the car it makes me scared to drive the car again. The first incident occurred while driving at approximately 35 mph. The road I was on had 4 lanes with a turn lane in the middle dividing the 4 lanes with 2 lanes on each side of the turn lane. …”

NHTSA complaint #11612728, filed 2024-09

“Driving my car on the highway at speeds of about 65, and the charging port door suddenly opens. When I slow down then the door closes on it own. Seems like the housing for the door isnt made tight enough to stay closed during highway driving.”

NHTSA complaint #11606027, filed 2024-08

“I was driving the car on the turnpike and out of nowhere the rear collision system went offline and the automatic breaking was triggered while I was going 70 mph in rush hour. The brakes started to smoke and smell and the the warning of ‘breaks overheating. do not drive. call service’ happened. I proceeded to narrowly avoid many cars on the road by having to cross three lanes of traffic over to the shoulder and the car was fully smoking, I quickly turned it off I got out and stepped away. …”

NHTSA complaint #11594433, filed 2024-06

“The vehicle initially had a windshield manufacturing defect according to Cadillac Service Center which allowed plenty of water to go inside the vehicle during heavy rain. After the vehicle was serviced weeks later I was driving and the digital dashboard when completely yellow and red. At the same time the automatic brakes activated and I almost got rear ended. They serviced the car again after being tow trucked and “couldn’t” determine the cause of the dashboard incident shown on the pictures.”
