Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“I have the moto metal 6 lug bones wheels on this truck and they are cracking just like the 8 lug wheels of this same type. Moto metal will not replace all of the wheels and they know they have a problem. They recalled the 8 lugs but will not recall the 6 lug. If its the same issue of breaking then what should it matter if they are 6 or 8 lug.”

NHTSA complaint #10781074, filed 2015-10, 365,000 miles

“Driving about 15mph, when the right rear studs went through the axle, at same time & wheel flew off. Left rear studs (1) occurred 2/18/98. Others were loose. Driver noticed wheel after stopping vehicle. Aluminum wheel was toren up on driver's side. Have studs & nuts.”

NHTSA complaint #822238, filed 1998-04
