“On february 22,03 vehicle was repaired due to recall on ABS brake system, when we picked up vehicle front axle was engaged full time, feb.22-03 return for repair when returned random brake failure returned and told bearing problem , ??? March 4-03 took to another dealer. Told computer problem. Disconnected ABS for safety reasons. I have been told of other incidents on same make and models.”
NHTSA complaint #10008371, filed 2003-03, 153,000 miles“I've owned this vehicle since new and complained several times to the dealer that the stopping distance increases at slow speeds when the anti-lock brakes take effect. I read in the chicago tribune today that there is a recall for this problem for 1999 to 2003 GM SUV's. My question is, was there ever a recall for this problem for 1993 Chevrolet k5 blazers and if not is there a chance of getting this problem fixed by GM at their expense considering the age of the vehicle.”
NHTSA complaint #10134787, filed 2005-08, 8,000 miles“Abs brake failure - after going over a bump or railroad track when coming to a stop there is a grinding noise on the driver's side and when brakes are applied pedal will go to the floor. Pumping of the pedal will not get the pedal height back. The brake pedal will continue to go to the floor for as many times as I apply the brakes. After vehicle is parked for half a day or longer, the pedal will return to a high pedal and everything seems okay. This condition has happened twice so far.”
NHTSA complaint #10082920, filed 2004-07, 128,785 miles“The crash was recent (01/2000), but there have been many close calls. All were unnecessary as the anti-lock brakes on this vehicle have been on recall since july 1999, last year. We contacted the dealer and he said recalls are a process that takes time and to be patient. That was before the accident. The brakes on this Blazer, when the pedal is shoved with all your strength will just slow down slowly. We have been very fortunate not to have been injured in this vehicle and GM knows it. …”
NHTSA complaint #718853, filed 2000-02“Have had probs with ABS since 1996/dealers no help/I believe it is the module replaced in 1996 please help us. Dangerous driving this vehicle. Dealers either do not want to touch this problem, or wish to charge us $1,200.00 to $1,500.00 to repair. The switch was replaced in late september, early october 2000. I have incurred $$$ personally. Would like some assistance in this matter. Reference campaign number 99046b. Also reference GM recalls vehicles story in the detroit free press dated july 22, 1999. Gm is of no help. Please advise.”
