Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“I have a 1998 Chevrolet Blazer, my windshield wipers will not start, or if they do start. They will stop with warning. In addition to this my air conditioner does not hold coolent.”

NHTSA complaint #10078825, filed 2004-06, 92,000 miles

“The seat back, transfer case, and windshield wiper motor all failed. The parking brake was adjusted, the air condition blew warm air, and the oil cooler lines were replaced.”

NHTSA complaint #10021871, filed 2003-08, 35,000 miles

“I have had numerous incidents with two very troubling issues. One was that my windsheild wipers would quit working. Of course you only use them when it rains, so it created a terrifying situation. I almost had an accident! I missed going off a bridge by a mere foot! I replaced the wiper motor and have not had trouble since (though I still have the old wiper motor). That was when I learned of all the troubles everyone else was having! With so much trouble, why hasn't something been done! I spent my hard earned money on fixing it when it has been known to have this fault all along. …”

NHTSA complaint #10095982, filed 2004-10

“Front bucket seat release piece has come off once on both front seats, already off for second time for driver side (and not that I use it that much either!). Cannot move the location of the back of the front seat, making sitting straight up very tiring and aggravating for driving!”

NHTSA complaint #10010124, filed 2003-03

“While driving about 55 MPH all of a sudden hood flew up and dropped back down. Day before hood flew up, owner could not get hood to open. Owner reported incident to Chevrolet's customer service. A modular relay switch failed. Ground wire was not install. Another ground wire was not install at fuel injector causing not enough gas to get into injector. Break pedal failed. Breaks locked after making screening noise. Tape player failed.”
