“My 2010 Chevrolet Equinox has an automatic door lock feature which automatically locks all doors when the vehicle is placed into gear. My concern is that if by accident, high water, or some other circumstance, the power locks and windows become inoperative as a result of electronic failure, and occupants become trapped in the vehicle. The door lock post cannot be grasped when in locked position. The dealer informs me this feature cannot be turned off. There has been no incident. I have to fill in the incident date in order to file the complaint.”
NHTSA complaint #10316403, filed 2010-03, 1 miles“2010 Equinox ltz drove to work put the car in park and turned the ignition off tried to get out of the doors and the doors would not open. I tried to open the door with the key fob it still would not open. I then tried to unlock the door with the switch on the dash of the car and it gave a small beep but still would not unlock. I tried to open all four doors to no avail. I opened the back hatch and crawled out through it. I took the car to the dealer to them look at it and they said that they could not find anything. I was really afraid because if there was a fire I couldn't get out.”
NHTSA complaint #10393888, filed 2011-03, 9,728 miles“A few issues...... The biggest being the fact the vehicle was brand new it has had a shake in the steering wheel as well as the whole vehicle. You can visually see and feel the steering wheel shake while driving. Had it into the dealership on many occasions, they balances the tires, checked the wheels, guaranteed me it was the tires, replaced 2 and said all fixed! Nope annoyed that this was the 5th visit, asked for 4 new tires and I paid the difference to upgrade from the hankook's to the michelin's. …”
NHTSA complaint #10376747, filed 2011-01“The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact mentioned that both rear windows failed to operate correctly and roll down independently with an abnormal noise that appeared while the vehicle was violently shaking. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired, and the failure recurred whenever the vehicle was in motion. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 3,000.”
NHTSA complaint #11430331, filed 2021-08, 3,000 miles“In new chevy vehicles there is a center storage compartment located above the center console. This is held down in place by a simple push button. The button however is problematic as in some trims it is a chrome feature. In sunny condition, the reflection from the chrome push button reflects into the driver's eyes. This could lead to possible dangerous driving conditions.”
