NHTSA complaint #10038733, filed 2003-09, 108,500 miles“My 1995 silverado with the 6.5 turbo seems to be have problems with the pmd otherwise known as the fsd. The vehicle has stalled going down the freeway once today and 3 other times, and stalled while in town driving 4 times all in the last 2 weeks. Stalling on the freeway is not acceptable as has proven very scary. As these trucks do not steer well with no power. Nor do the brakes work well while in a stall. Tonight it would not start while at a business. I had to sit for 45 minutes waiting on a tow truck. Only to have the truck start once the tow truck arrived. …”
NHTSA complaint #10054427, filed 2004-01, 107,030 miles“Truck with 6.5 turbo diesel would sporadically hiccup and stall while driving down the road causing loss of power to operate steering and brakes properly, put truck in neutral and attempt to restart, sometimes it wouldn't for several minutes, other times it would, regaining control of the vehicles power steering and brakes. On several occasions while driving the vehicle would hiccup then start accelerating on it's own with no way to regain control without turning off the ignition and coasting to a stop. …”
NHTSA complaint #10457554, filed 2012-05, 110,000 miles“The fuel solenoid of my 1995 chevy K2500 6.5 diesel over heats due to poor location mounting, as in GM tech service bulletin#77-63-06ab, which can cause stalling, hard starting, hesitation.”
NHTSA complaint #10041338, filed 2003-10, 148,360 miles“The fuel pump has gone out 4 times in 125,000 miles. Every dealer knows what the problem is and says they replace this morethan anything else. Other people I know carry spare fuel pumps. It must be a very common problem, and I get the same pump with no changes eack time. I think some product improvement is in order. Can you tell what else I need to do.”
