Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“My rear anti-lock brakes do not work at all when I'm in two-wheel drive. I have to be in four-wheel drive before my rear brakes work at all. I understand there has been a recall on this problem but I can't find a Chevrolet dealer that can help me. This is a very dangerous situation as I have had many close calls due to brake failure. Hope you can help me.( DOT number: )”

NHTSA complaint #737854, filed 2000-12

“We have a 1992 s-10 blazer with a two wheel locking differential-rear axle. Since we purchased it, we have always felt that the brakes were too hard to apply and failed to stop quickly. On several occasions we had to stop on gravel and the vehicle slid instead of coming to a complete stop. The 1992 two wheel drive blazers need to be included in the present recall.”

NHTSA complaint #709025, filed 1999-07

“Consumer is experiencing ABS brake defect. The brake system is not consistent. Some of the problem may causes the brake pedal to go to the floor before the vehicle comes to a stop or brakes appear to grab more to the left or right. Coditions always appear to be different. Dealer notified and condition still occurs. All repairs are at a cost to the consumer.”

NHTSA complaint #824832, filed 1998-06

“While driving stepped on the brakes, but the brakes won't work with minimum stopping distance as stated in recall 99v193000. Front brakes are ok, but rear brakes ABS doesn't not work properly. Repairs have been made to the proportioning valve, shoes, drums, discs, pads, and hoses, but problem still exists.”

NHTSA complaint #859396, filed 2000-03

“Abs went out while on vacation. Dealer has reset the system on two occasions after the warning light came on. Recently, just after the 50k mile warranty expired, the warning light came on again, and a dealer told the owner it would be okay to drive the vehicle while the light was on if he could not afford the repair.”
