“Vehicle was taken to the dealer for recall 00v193000 repairs concerning ABS. Dealer made the repairs, but the vehicle still slipped when the brakes were applied forcefully. Consumer had the module kit replaced along with a new vac switch, wiring harness, and transfer switch. Brakes continued to slip when pressure was applied.”

NHTSA complaint #10034332, filed 2003-09, 120,000 miles

“I have owned this vehicle since new and my big complaint has been the ABS breaks just arn't sufficent, they have been kept up to speck and just seem to fade and the stopping distance is just entirely too long, and I hate to let some one drive it as they can not get used to the stopping distance”

NHTSA complaint #701491, filed 1998-12

“I was traveling south on 1-5 entering the vancouver-portland draw bridge. When a car stopped in front of me in the left hand lane. I dynamited my brakes and my blazer did not stop in the appropriate amount of time. It felt like I had a 4,000 pound trailer pushing me. I feel that the braking system should have stopped me sooner than it did. It took 6 to 10 seconds which should have been pleanty of time. On july 22, 1999 the eugene reg. Guard printed an article titled GM to fix more than 3.5 million vehicles. …”

NHTSA complaint #709620, filed 1999-08

“Vehicle rolled into intersection ABS brakes being applied -- it eventually stopped. Took to dealer (smith chv, turlock) -- he replaced shoes and said hydraulics and sensors were fine. Shoes still had some life on them. Vehicle stopped better, but still acted as if braking was intermittent. Took vehicle to american chv (modesto) -- found faulty front left ABS component and replaced. I want to note the first dealer was adament that there was no braking problem with the car, making me believe that an ABS failure is very hard to detect.”

NHTSA complaint #709069, filed 1999-07

“Consumer was traveling about 20mph on side street, and when she applied brakes it was one to two car lengths to stop. Curently, it takes six car lengths. Brakes slip thru. Dealership is aware of the problem. The problem of brake failures continued for years until finally recall was made (99v-193). However, the brake failed again after being fixed.”
