“The contact owns a 2000 Chevrolet SILVERADO 2500. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 MPH, the front passenger side wheel fractured from the axle. As a result, the contact lost control and crashed into the guard rail. A police report was filed and no injuries were reported. The vehicle was destroyed and towed to a salvage yard. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 240,000. Updated 9/18/14 updated 02/11/2015”

NHTSA complaint #10610906, filed 2014-07, 240,000 miles

“Failure of front wheel hubs on 2000 SILVERADO 2500. Replaced both shortly after purchase of truck about 14 months ago. After about a year both are worn out again. One has extreme play. Completely stock truck. On road use only. About 5000 easy miles on the hubs. Seems that one is close to falling apart. The other is on the way. Because of the excess play braking is compromised as well as stability. Not sure what brand they are. But bought on ebay. …”

NHTSA complaint #10335260, filed 2010-06

“Front end seems to be wearing out front tires more than usual. This may cause problems. Dealer cannot determine the cause. The steering wheel was misaligned and has grinding noise when turning. The rear end vibrates when trying to slow down.”

NHTSA complaint #877347, filed 2001-01

“Balancing and rotating of the tires were wearing and tearing on the lugs: nuts. Consumer thought tires were the problem. Dealership mechanic did not see this problem eye to eye with consumer.”
