“I was parking my truck and lost my brakes. Found that the brake lines rusted out and I had to replace them. Also I noticed that the transmission and fuel lines are rusted badly. I repaired the fuel line 6 months ago because it rusted threw. There should be a recall to replace all lines do to poor quality lines were used.”

As I put my foot down on brake pedal to move transmission to drive, brake pedal went to floor, got the trans to neutral, but not to drive. The truck and boat started to roll into river. Panic situation... Jambed trans into drive, and was able to get truck out of river, with water line half way up drivers door. Once home discovered badly rusted brake line above fuel tank ruptured. Repaired... Two months later, while wife was driving truck to work, brake line between master cylinder and ABS modual failed. Had enough! …”

“On 09/27/2000 I was slowing down for a dip, with my foot on the brake. As I crossed the hit the dip and/or just after the dip, I heard a noise come from the left front drivers side of truck. At the same time the left front of truck dropped a little. I was still rolling and didn't think anything was wrong, so I rolled on about 100 ft. To a right curve. When I tried to turn the vehicle it only turned from a 2 oclock position to a 4 oclock position. Truck went into ditch, and stopped on the other side. …”

NHTSA complaint #738994, filed 2001-01

“We are buying a 2000 Chevrolet SILVERADO 2500. We have had the transmission replaced once, and it is having problems again! We've taken it in to the dealer, who says there is nothing wrong with it. They also said this twice before the transmission went out the first time. Now it's acting up again, and they say there is nothing wrong. I'm sure it will go out again, it's just a matter of time. I also know someone with 2002 chevy truck, and they have had their transmission either checked or replaced already. My concern is that the transmissions being used are not heavy-duty enough to last. …”
