“I crossed over the west bound lanes and turned left in the east bound lanes and under slight acceleration when my truck started jerking as if i was braking/accelerating back and forth. My diesel engine then went into limp mode and my transmission was stuck in a low gear and would not shift. I could only drive approximately 20 mph at 3000rpm. The people coming up behind me had to slow down because i couldn't pull over.”
NHTSA complaint #11636568, filed 2025-01“While accelerating to merge onto the highway, the transmission attempted a shift twice and could not complete the shift. That process causes an aggressive deceleration with each shift attempt. It then slowed, turned on the check engine light and displayed Reduced Power Mode - i.e. went into limp mode. The dealer pulled code P0747. The repair is a full transmission rebuild. I did not experience wheel lock up like other people have, but this is the same problem that has been heavily documented.”
NHTSA complaint #11722009, filed 2026-03“First started around 4 to 6000 miles, felt a shuttering between 50 and 65 mph. Shattering lasted from 10 to maybe 30 seconds let off the fuel and reapplied still there on one or two occasions. RPMs were approximately 2000 RPM shattering stopped in our PMs went down to 1500. This is occurred many times taken to a dealership always get same result, no problem found. Problem always occurs just after a transmission shift which I can tell by RPM. When I apply gas shuttering sometimes increases not always. …”
NHTSA complaint #11752372, filed 2026-07“I bought a new 2024 HD2500 with the 10 speed Allison. My truck is 1.5 years old with 8,900 miles on it. About 50% of its life I tow a 5,000 lb travel trailer. My Valve Module went out on it. The truck went into limp mode. Would run (very noisy) but would not move in either gear. Its been disabled at the Chevy dealer for 9 WEEKS. No ETA on a part. The internet is loaded with issues related to the 10 speed transmission being distributed by Chevy. Action by the NHTSA recommended. I live in a small town. …”
NHTSA complaint #11639439, filed 2025-01“Truck went into “Reduced Acceleration” or “Limp Mode” while pulling my camper. Took truck to Kool Chevrolet in Grand Rapids, MI. They confirmed it is a bad Valve body on the transmission. No estimated time from Chevy on getting a replacement valve body. They confirmed this is a widespread known issue and could be weeks if not months. I have a family camping trip planned for the upper peninsula of Michigan in mid July and they aren’t giving not giving me any indication that I could have my truck back by then.”
