“I purchased 2006 silverado new and after the 1st year noticed rusting. Just before it came off warranty (2009) the coolant line from the radiator and the brake rotors (front and rear) had rusted through. Have since replaced the rotors again and now my brake line burst open as I was driving home. …”

NHTSA complaint #10463449, filed 2012-06, 26,000 miles

“The line running from the transmission to the radiator is extremely prone to leaking due to a weak/improper crimp in the hose. As time goes on transmission fluid is depleted and could lead to transmission failure. The leak is widespread across most allison transmissions due to a faulty hose crimp and leaks through the crimp in the hose.”

NHTSA complaint #10564253, filed 2014-02, 32,000 miles

“2006 Chevrolet silverado 6.6 liter turbo diesel. Transmission cooler lines are leaking. Both the lower trans. Cooler line and trans. Cooler line from the radiator to the aux. Truck has 59 000 miles on it. Issue has been repaired by dealer that informed that this should not happen and that lines quality are to blame definitely not wear and tear( ref model and mileage).why is there no factory recall on this failure?”

NHTSA complaint #10377160, filed 2011-01, 59,000 miles

“Engine idler pulley seized causing serpentine belt to break which resulted in loss of power steering and loss of power brakes..2 local GM dealer parts department's stated this is common on the duramax diesel engine.”

NHTSA complaint #10713257, filed 2015-04, 52,601 miles

“2006 Chevrolet 2500 pick-up w/8.1 motor. First there was faulty hoses causing low oil warning to come on. Now engine is low on oil with 1800 miles since last oil change. Had to put in 1 1/4 quart of oil. After engine break in. I switched to mobile 1 5w30 synethic. A recommended oil to use by Chevrolet. Dealers service dept. Says its suppose to use a quart to 2000miles. I don't believe that with the modern technology of engines. Maybe years ago but not now. If that's the case then Chevrolet should have said this engine uses oil. I guarantee you not many would have been sold.”
