“On dec. 23, 2011, I took my silverado into joe firment for an exhaust leak (which is an emissions problem), so I wanted it fixed immediately. They found nothing. On may 22, 2012 I took my silverado back to joe firment for the 3rd time for this same issue - exhaust leak. At that time they had found one broken bolt on the exhaust manifold (actually there were two broken bolts that I found personally upon further inspection). My warranty covered the manifold but had just expired on may 7, 2012. …”

NHTSA complaint #10470301, filed 2012-08, 24,308 miles

“I have had diesel exhaust fumes in the 2007 silverado since I bought it new at the dealer. I put a carbon monixide detector in the truck . Went up to 495 lbs. Had it back to the dealer 3 times allready with no problem found.I sell diesel trucks for a living and found at least 80 other people on line and other places that have had the same problem. I am afraid to drive this vehicle myself let alone put my family in it.I have askes Chevrolet to buy the vehicle back, but I also want this NHTSA to look into this, not only for myself but all the rest of the people out there.”

NHTSA complaint #10187981, filed 2007-04, 400 miles

“Exhaust manifold bolts broken on 6.0 liter engine, 2 on passenger side, 1 on driver side, causing exhaust leaks and service engine light. Possible fire hazard as exhaust gases entering underhood environment, and definite emission problems as o2 sensors incorrectly sensing diluted exhaust after leak in system, possible fuel mileage affected..”

NHTSA complaint #10455737, filed 2012-04, 120,000 miles

“Exhaust fumes entering the vehicle when coming to a complete stop. I have been to the dealer twice and they have observed the smell, but have no idea where it is coming from. They are suspecting that it is the new diesel after burner causing the smell.”

NHTSA complaint #10199984, filed 2007-08, 50 miles

“The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet SILVERADO 2500. The contact discovered that the EGR cooler sensor failed and became inoperable. As a result, the exhaust pipe overheated. While driving at an unknown speed, the diesel filter sensor increased excessively to 1,500 degrees. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 160,000.”
