“Windshield wipers will only work on high. When the wipers are turned off they will not return to their appropriate place of rest. This creates a distraction while driving. I will take to a GM dealer for repair. I hoped to find recall information on this web site, but I could not. I suppose this has not been recalled, but from hearsay seems to be a common problem.”

NHTSA complaint #10151508, filed 2006-03, 118,000 miles

“I have a 2001 chevy Tahoe. I purchased the vehicle 2 years. For the year I have heard a clicking noise and a knocking noise when I turn and then the noise starting getting louder. Four months ago I was pulling out of my drive way and the noise turned into a scratching sound. I parked the vehicle for 2 days took it to dealer ship and they said nothing was wrong with it. Well little did I know that nothing turned into the rear end gear differential going completely out. Now I am with out a vehicle. This is while I have my 4 children in the vehicle with me on our way to the doctors office. …”

NHTSA complaint #10263994, filed 2009-04, 8,300 miles

“The rear hatch glass is mounted to the body by a rubber hinge attachment process, the bonding failed which allowed the rear hatch glass to fall off of the body hitting me in the process. This causes a dangerous condition that could harm another motorist if the glass falls off while traveling at highway speed. It is a very common failure that is a manufacturers defect.”

NHTSA complaint #10437279, filed 2011-11, 127,004 miles

“On 6/8/2001, I purchased a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe from sewell cadillac-Chevrolet. In 2003 hinges on the rear door cargo window had to be replaced/repaired because the window would not close properly because the hinges were coming loose from the vehicle. The cargo window on the rear door was rarely used. The last time it was opened was august, 2009. While the car was being driven on the highway in may, 2010, the cargo window flew off the car. …”

NHTSA complaint #10343794, filed 2010-07, 88,350 miles

“Both front door power windows fail to operate. The motors make a grinding noise and the windows will not fully open or close. The glass panels apparently are not attached as they can be moved by hand. The failures have occurred within two days of each other and have been vary rarely been opened since the vehicle was purchased.”
