“One morning I came out to find a 1/4 inch crack in the dashboard in front of the instrument panel. After a couple days it grew to about an inch. I keep the truck in showroom condition and am shocked to find how common this is on $64,000 trucks within 1-3 years of ownership. It's unacceptable. My 1998 Tahoe interior was perfect and it had 300,000 miles. The crack appeared overnight.”
NHTSA complaint #10849883, filed 2016-03, 75,000 miles“The dashboard on the driver's side above the odometer has cracked, as well as the dashboard on the passenger's side on left hand corner of the airbag. The vehicle is well taken care of and never taken off road. I noticed the cracks when I got into my vehicle one morning. The cracks just seemed to appear overnight.”
NHTSA complaint #10883084, filed 2016-07, 91,000 miles“After 5 years of garage kept vehicle, purchased a new car to be kept in garage, only 2 days of having this SUV outside the dash cracks, very disappointed on GM customer service I have 6 yr 100000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. I worry about where the crack is right by the passenger in dash airbag”
NHTSA complaint #10995012, filed 2017-06, 76,000 miles“Cracked dashboard. Please help, my dashboard is cracked in the middle corner by the passenger airbag. I put the screen up in my windshield when the car is parked in order to protect it from the sun and then one day while I was driving I heard a pop and the dash had a big crack all the way through it.”
NHTSA complaint #10934908, filed 2016-12, 54,500 miles“I noticed that my dash cracked in two places. My Tahoe is always parked in the garage and not from sun damage. I purchased new, and had to take it back to fix the dash because it wasn't aligned correctly.”
