Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“My dash has cracked in 4 places. They continue to get worse over time. It is clear the cracks occurred in narrow, weak areas. 2 cracks in front of the instrument cluster and 2 cracks in the 1 area in front of the passenger airbag. With the dash fracturing around the airbag, I'm concerned about what might happen if the airbag were to deploy.”

NHTSA complaint #10789935, filed 2015-11, 107,000 miles

“Upon purchasing my 2007 Tahoe used I noticed 2 cracks on dashboard. The one on the passenger side is cracked at corner of airbag which is concerning due to an airbag deployment shards of plastic could be turn ed into projectiles. Noticed there are many, many of the same vehicles with identical cracks and locations of them. Thanks”

NHTSA complaint #10559434, filed 2014-01, 71,000 miles

“I noticed a crack in my dashboard about 5 months ago. This crack is directly beside the passenger side airbag and is about 1-2 inches long. The opposite end of the crack (not connected to the airbag) has splintered off into more than just one crack. My concern is if the air bag is deployed, will this cause shattering and debris to fly into the face of my passengers and myself?”

NHTSA complaint #10578522, filed 2014-04, 45,000 miles

“Dashboard is cracked badly around instrument cluster and passanger side airbag door on top of dash. My car has had 2 different dashboard and they have both cracked in the exact sme spots. Both dashboards cracked overnight will sitting in my driveway in the san francisco bay area.”

NHTSA complaint #10889020, filed 2016-07, 60,000 miles

“Two cracks located on the dash. One is located on the left hand side of the driver side hump and the other is located on the left hand side of the passenger side airbag and connects from the airbag to the vent. I am concerned that these will effect airbag deployment if a crash occurs. I have read multiple complaints of the same nature on the 2007 Chevrolet tahoes.”
