Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“My dashboard is cracked in two different areas. I see that many dashboard between 2013 and 2017 chevy tahoes have crack. One of the cracks leads into the compartment that holds the front passenger airbag. These cracks are not from neglect and these crabs are not from heat because I use sun visors daily due to the fact that I'm black on black and it keeps the car much cooler. I have attached pictures and I feel that general motors should take care of this. This is a $70,000 vehicle when new. I cannot say exactly when I noticed it for the first time because it is flat on the dashboard. …”

NHTSA complaint #11362706, filed 2020-10, 89,000 miles

“There are several cracks in the plastic front dash. One crack in front of passenger front seat near airbag. One in front dash in front of driver seat. The inside door panel on the drivers side also is broken. The part that you grab to close the door from the inside.”

NHTSA complaint #11204681, filed 2019-04, 30,000 miles

“While I was washing my 2014 Tahoe ltz I noticed my front dash board was cracked in 2 places. Now when I drive it shakes and I am afraid that if the air bags deploy I could get the shattered pieces thrown back into me and my families face.”

NHTSA complaint #11324638, filed 2020-05

“My 2014 Tahoe dash is cracked between the passenger airbag and the windshield vent. I is just hard plastic. I have a sunroof and keep it open during the hot months and the windows are cracked to allow the hot air to escape. I also keep huge sun shades in the windshield. I tried to have it repaired. All she could do was try to mend the crack but didn't have any luck in filling the gap. She said she sees a lot of these and believes it is due to a design flaw. I believe it too. My dash still move up and down when driving. This should be a recall and repaired or replaced at GM's expense. …”

NHTSA complaint #11339287, filed 2020-07

“Cracked dashboard in 3 separate pieces. This is safety concern with the jagged sharp point that could cause severe injury during a crash or everyday driving. Lowers value of very high end vehicle and jeopardizes the safety of the passengers in the vehicle.”
