2013: “My car has about 76k miles on it and suddenly gives a warning about service airbag on 4/4/2021. I have not been in a wreck, sped over potholes, or have any damage to my car so I am unsure why this light has been activated (I received this warning prior to leaving my driveway that afternoon). It is the passenger airbag that is having this problem.”

NHTSA complaint #11406628, filed 2021-04, 76,000 miles

2012: “Airbag problem warning light. Dealer said there is likely a problem with the passenger sensor in the seat and I would have to pay $1200 but that might not fix the problem. We declined the service. I have since read about many more VOLT owners with this problem. Ours started around 80,000 miles. We are currently around $120000 miles.”

NHTSA complaint #11416379, filed 2021-05, 80,000 miles

2017: “When I attempt to shut the car off, I get an error message telling me to shift to park however, the shift selector is already in park, the car is just failing to detect it. This is the second time this has happened with this car. The first time it was repaired under warranty. It appears the shift selector sensor is not working properly or fails over time.”

NHTSA complaint #11323893, filed 2020-05, 33,486 miles
