“I am reporting a problem which may relate to acceleration due to computer failure. My 1991 Chrysler New Yorker revved up considerably as I sat in neutral after traveling at 45 to 50 MPH for 7 hours. I was driving from richmond, va to albany, ga and setting the pace for a rental truck on a very windy day. It only happened on the one day. I no longer own the car.”
NHTSA complaint #10319931, filed 2010-03, 77,000 miles“Fuel rail is leaking bad and is very dangerous. There has been recalls on the same thing in other years but none on mine. Somthing this dangerous should be at least discounted on repair.”
NHTSA complaint #10069859, filed 2004-01, 89,000 miles“Black smoke and large flames appeared from the vehicle. The fire department extinguished the fire. The vehicle was towed an independent mechanic, who indicated the fuel rail failed. While parked in the parking lot with the key still in the ignition switch but with the engine turned of, the consumer realized that the engine was on fire. The fire may have started while the engine was not running, but the fire wasn't noticed when the engine was off. The fire was possibly started by the fuel rail, this was not an electrical fire per consumer.”
NHTSA complaint #10080115, filed 2004-08, 50,000 miles“Engine and transmission were replaced at 190,000 miles due to fuel injection line busting. Gas leaked onto exhaust. Consumer believed it was a fire hazard.”
NHTSA complaint #10059622, filed 2004-02, 190,000 miles“Fuel leak where fuel line attaches to the injector rail.for more than 4 years ago I occasionally noticed the smell of gas fumes. Neither the dealership nor I could find any indication of a leak. In the last 2 months the odor has been stronger & happened more often, which started me looking again. Found gas dripping onto the valve cover gasket, from there to the exaust manafold. Leak is from a factory connection where the steel gas line enters the fuel injection system. …”
