“2007 Chrysler Town And Country had low tire pressure message on the console. Removed valve stem cap and went to fill tire with air when part of the valve stem shot at me. Luckily it hit my shoulder and not face or eyes or while driving. Tire then rapidly deflated. Had to replace entire TPMS sensor. Tpms sensor valve stem was made of cheap aluminum.”
NHTSA complaint #10551039, filed 2013-11, 72,000 miles“The tire pressure monitor sensor and valve stem. This part keeps on breaking for no apparent reason. I had to replace at least 4-5 of them. Yesterday, the stem fractured when I was traveling down a county highway about 40 MPH. I was able to safely coast to a stop and changed the flat. I had the valve/sensor replaced which cost me about $100. That is nothing compared with the potential hazard of the stems breaking at higher speeds. The situation could have been catastrophic. I believe the part has a design flaw. It is made of white metal or aluminum and does not hold up. …”
NHTSA complaint #10702588, filed 2015-03, 129,000 miles“2007 town & country touring, when depressing the brake pedal, it would continue to go down almost to floor. The consumer also stated he heard a slight groan noise coming from the right wheel when he made a left turn. The dealer claimed they didn't hear a noise.”
