“2007 Chrysler Town And Country had low tire pressure message on the console. Removed valve stem cap and went to fill tire with air when part of the valve stem shot at me. Luckily it hit my shoulder and not face or eyes or while driving. Tire then rapidly deflated. Had to replace entire TPMS sensor. Tpms sensor valve stem was made of cheap aluminum.”

NHTSA complaint #10551039, filed 2013-11, 72,000 miles

“The tire pressure monitor sensor and valve stem. This part keeps on breaking for no apparent reason. I had to replace at least 4-5 of them. Yesterday, the stem fractured when I was traveling down a county highway about 40 MPH. I was able to safely coast to a stop and changed the flat. I had the valve/sensor replaced which cost me about $100. That is nothing compared with the potential hazard of the stems breaking at higher speeds. The situation could have been catastrophic. I believe the part has a design flaw. It is made of white metal or aluminum and does not hold up. …”

NHTSA complaint #10702588, filed 2015-03, 129,000 miles

“The contact owns a 2007 Chrysler Town And Country equipped with continental conti pro contact tires, size: 225/55r17 (na). While attempting to enter the vehicle, the contact noticed that the rear passenger tire was flat. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the tread was separated on the tire, and the other tires were exhibiting the same failure. The tires were replaced. The tires were replacement tires. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate vehicle failure mileage was 105,932 and the tire failure mileage was 30,000.”

NHTSA complaint #10909975, filed 2016-09, 105,932 miles

“2007 Chrysler Town And Country. Consumer states that he is having problems with the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS). The light would illuminate at any time even when the tires had proper air. He states he has taken it to the dealer several times. The consumer also stated the transmission had to be replaced a couple of times, as well as the torque converter.”

NHTSA complaint #10375889, filed 2011-01

“Over the past year, all four valve stems have broken off each tires pressure monitoring sensor resulting in an unexpected flat tire. The first was while routine airing of the tire, the second was in a car wash, and two occurred in one day as I attempted to take off the stem caps. …”
